The RAF 41st Squadron is one of the RAF Operational Conversion Units.
The Squadron due is mainly teaching new pilots for the RAF Operative Bomber Squadrons on a formal course.

The Squadron task is as well the development of operational tactics and the evaluation of avionics and weapons for the RAF Bomber Squadrons.

Because the RAF still has few Tornado F3, the 41st Sq benefits of its experience with the Tornado weapon system and teachs the Tornado interceptors crew also.

Some Information about this Orion, serial number 5047 with Bu. Nº 150521/341:

He saw the light on 24JUL63 like P-3A, initially operated by the squadron VP-46, passing then successively by the hands of the VP-28, VP-31, VP-8, VP-69 and VP-93.

In 1981 there was modified like "Billboard Orion" shaped with an antenna of great dimensions for 'relay' dad for telemetria connected with the continuation of tests of remote-controlled missiles, being re-designated EP-3A.

In 13MAR82 was attributed to the PMTC - Pacific Missile test Center em Point Mugu in the California, being subsequently re-designated RP-3A and when there is assuming the code 41 painted under the windows of the cockpit. In January of 1992 was transferred to the NAWC-WD (Naval Air Warfare Center- weapons division) being re-designated definitely like NP-3D in 01FEB95

In 08MAI95 there passes for the hands of the Squadron VX-30 / NWTSPM (Naval Weapons Test Squadron Point Mugu) with the code in the nose (or modex number) 341, where it is still maintained and in the configuration " Billboard ", since it is apparent...
